I'm guessing you expect (update-rc.d downtimed defaults) to read the Default- Start and Default-Stop LSB headers and use those. No such luck. From man 8 update-rc.d: "If 'defaults' is used then 'update-rc.d' will make links to start the service in runlevels '2345' and to stop the service in runlevels '016'." -- Boyd Stephen Smith Jr. ,= ,-_-. =.
