I don't agree with removing the php-pear dependency. php-soap even ships a /usr/share/php/.registry More over, this is an RC fix for the frozen release, so you should only fix the bug, not change anything else, especially if it may create new bugs (which I believe would, in this case). Please remove the removal of the dependency, reupload to mentors, and I will happily sponsor your fixed package.
