Something I always check in similar situations is if the package is available at snapshot.debian.org. I primaraily use git these days, and if what I want to work on is available there (like glimpse is) I like to use something like 'git-import-dscs --debsnap ...' in order to create an initial code repository to work with. -- Robert J.
