Did the current maintainer agree that you take over maintainership?
debian/control says:
Vcs-Svn: svn://svn.debian.org/svn/python-apps/packages/s3cmd/trunk
But youe changes are not committed there. And, conversly, the changes
that have been already committed to the repository are not included in
the package you uploaded to mentors.d.n.
I'll have another look at the package later. :)
