I noticed this morning that pngcrush had started crashing on any input, and then (while checking to see if anyone had reported the bug) that the package hadn't been touched in three years, was many upstream revisions out of date, and was incompatible with upcoming libpng changes. So I have prepared an NMU which closes all the really dire bugs. Please note that the manpage is now significantly out of date; I do not speak DocBook.
I don't have time to help with this package on an ongoing basis, but if someone wouldn't mind checking this one-time NMU and uploading to the archive, that would be great.
