I have a sponsor. I've got it building on kfreebsd-amd64 and linux-amd64, and it works well enough (under Linux) for me to scan with my Canon MX-450 scanner (which, let's face it, is the most important thing in the universe wrt scanners). I have a Hurd VM to build it on but haven't actually done so. My plan is this: (1) Package a current snapshot and keep it updated regularly to avoid big nasty surprises when a new release comes out. (2) Fix or try to fix all lintian errors and warnings. (?) Reduce the number of patches by submitting them upstream if appropriate. (?) Match up our bugs to upstream bugs, filing new ones if necessary, and if it's not a big deal, backporting fixes. But I'm stuck on (1), because sane-project.org has been down (same reason as alioth?) for a while, and I have been using that as an excuse for procrastination. All it would take to get me to do (2) before (1) is somebody asking nicely. It doesn't even have to be all that nice, actually, just non-nasty. -- Mark Buda <[email protected]> I get my monkeys for nothing and my chimps for free. -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
