From the upstream README:

WARNING: This library is going to be discontinued. Please use glibc's
getauxval() function for similar functionality instead.

So given that, is it actually a good idea to package this in Debian?

It looks like getauxval was introduced in glibc 2.16 which is already
in jessie.
