Great! Thanks a lot, Thiemo! 

Since the original atomic.h code coes from GNU libc, it would be cool if
you could send your patch upstream to GNU libc, as well.

Builds fine for me as well, cross compiled for mips & mipsel. Checked
into Kaffe's HEAD.
