mips development on the 2.95.x branch of gcc is mostly dead, and I'm running
into problems with the asm output of gcc not having valid syntax. Since there
is active development with gcc 3.x, it seems like it might be best to change
the default compiler for mips (and mipsel?) to gcc 3.x.

Anyone have a compelling reason we shouldn't go to 3.x, since 2.95.x looks
to be broken, and no one is looking at fixing it at this point?
