Hi all, I've just suscribed to this list after reading 2 years of archives, and still I haven't managed to solve my problem. So here it is, as detailed as it can be. I recently got a SGI Indigo2 [EMAIL PROTECTED], 384 Mo RAM, XL video card, 4Gb SCSI HD, no CD-Rom or floppy. I try to install a Debian Woody on it. So I've set up dhcp and tftp servers on the computer to which the SGI is connected to via ethernet.
Then I got the tftpboot.img from http://honk.physik.uni-konstanz.de/linux-mips/install/r4k-ip22/tftpboot.img (because I've read framebuffer with my video card is not supported with the kernel on Debian FTPs), and put it in / on my server. I've also done this because I run a 2.4.19 kernel : echo 1 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_no_pmtu_disc echo 25000 32767 > /proc/sys/net/ipv4/ip_local_port_range I went into "Maintenance Menu > Boot command" on my Indigo 2 and here is what I got : >> printenv AutoLoad=Yes TimeZone=PST8PDT console=g diskless=0 keybd=US dbaud=2400 volume=80 sgilogo=y autopower=y monitor=h netaddr=192.168.0.2 eaddr=08:00:69:08:1d:ae ConsoleOut=video() ConsoleIn=keyboard() cpufreq=250 SystemPartition=scsi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(8) OSLoadPartition=scsi(0)disk(1)rdisk(0)partition(0) OSLoadFilename=/unix OSLoader=sash gfx=alive >> boot bootp():/tftpboot.img 115360+19584+3136+334528+42744d+4248+6368 entry: 0x97fa8850 Setting $netaddr to 192.168.0.2 (from server ) Obtaining /tftpboot.img from server tip22: IP22 Linux tftpboot loader stack starts at: 0x97fff7a8 Free Memory (3) segment found at (0x88002000,0x88740000) Free Memory (3) segment found at (0x88800000,0x97f8c000) Adding 259502080 bytes at 0x88811000 to the list of available memory Embedded kernel image starts at 0x88810f70, ends 0x88a92a07 Embedded ramdisk image starts at 0x88a92a10, ends 0x88c41a51 Loading program segment 2 at 0x88002000, size = 0x1c0080 Loading program segment 3 at 0x881c4000, size = 45000 Zeroing memory at 0x88209000, size = 0x189c0 Starting kernel; entry point = 0x8800246c Copied initrd from 0x88a92a10 to 0x88222000 (0x1af041 bytes) Arguments passed to kernel : 0: bootp():/tftpboot.img 1: rd_start=0x88222000 rd_size=0x1af041 --- Debug: press <spacebar> to boot kernel --- And my system freezes.
