Daniel, I assume it is a kernel symbol export problem - memchr() is probably not exported.
Could you please try to insert in module /arch/mips/kernel/mips_ksyms.c: EXPORT_SYMBOL_NOVERS(memchr); (best located in section: marked /* String functions */) and then recompile your kernel.
