What's happening is that the PROM loads arcload, arcload then loads its config file, then the kernel, all fine. But when loading the initrd, the PROM returns a file size of 0 bytes. A network trace shows the PROM throwing back a TFTP error to the server after the second block of data. I tried loading the initrd image directly from the PROM prompt (which very obviously isn't going to get me very far as it's not an executable of any kind) and the network trace shows exactly the same error being thrown back to the TFTP server at exactly the same point in the transfer. It looks like the PROM is peeking at the file and stopping the transfer if it doesn't like what it gets, though I have a hard time believing that. As the kernel image is loaded flawlessly, this is for sure not an ARCLoad issue (same code used). I know the PROM is a bit of a mystery for everybody, but can anyone offer any hindsight?
