hi floks,
Try to launch alsaconf, then alsamixer to tune the mixer. If you have
changed your kernel, you will have to reinstall alsa, because of it is a
module.
You can see if the module is loaded with 'lsmod' and you should read
the startx log to see if everything is allright.
