Package: timidity
Version: 2.13.2-7.1
Severity: normal
*** Please type your report below this line ***
Trying to configure and use GNU Solfege, while testing the external
application timidity there was no sound.
Trying to play a midi from command line, timidity could not play any
midi and
gave the following messages:
warp:~/ timidity
/usr/share/solfege/online-docs/midi/Theory-intervals-3.midi
/etc/timidity/freepats.cfg: No such file or directory
timidity: Can't read any configuration file.
Please check /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg
At this time freepats was not installed, as it was only recommended.
After installing freepats everything was ok.
If I comment out the last line in /etc/timidity/timidity.cfg
source /etc/timidity/freepats.cfg
then timidity does not emit any error message, seems to function
correctly (i.e. writes the usual messages to console) but there
is no sound.
