Debian's standard fltk1.1 packages already use --with-threads, and
have done so for ages, so you should have no problem building against
them; please let me know if that's not the case.  (I'm frankly
surprised that the RPM builds take a different approach, but that's
not my problem. ;-)

BTW, as you have correctly surmised, I do not normally read
-multimedia, so please do continue Cc:ing me as appropriate.
