Dear Maintainer,

Updating to libopenmpt 0.5 will involve changes in packaging because we
(libopenmpt upstream) have split out the libopenmpt-modplug emulation layer
into a completely separate upsteam package. See
<https://lib.openmpt.org/libopenmpt/2020/04/13/release-libopenmpt-modplug-0.8.8.5-openmpt1/>,

 <https://lib.openmpt.org/libopenmpt/2020/05/24/releases-0.5.0-0.4.13-0.3.22/>.
In the end, this will simplify future updates to libopenmpt-modplug, because we
can now follow libmodplug API and ABI changes more closely and independently of
libopenmpt versions and API/ABI guarantees.

Updating to libopenmpt 0.5 and libopenmpt-modplug 0.8.9.0-openmpt1 (same ABI
change as in the matching libmodplug version) will also fix #958377.

If you encounter any problems updating, or have suggestions which we can
integrate to make packaging and updating easier, please feel free to contact me.
