Hi Simon, To be honest, I am not 100% sure this update mechanism is needed for Kodi at all.
I assume pkla rule requires a lot of manual work (install one package, copy pkla, regenerate polkit cache) only to be able to run "apt update && apt upgrade" from unprivileged user? If that's the case, unattended-upgrades are more Debian way and I have zero issues with them on all my Debian devices since 2018.
