Dear Maintainer,
* What is the problem?
After upgrading the libasound2 and libasound2-data packages from ver 1.1.6-1 to
ver 1.1.7-1 the Audacity no longer creates
recording stream for ALSA Capture on tapping the "Click to Start Monitoring"
button in the Recording Level control.
As a consequence, recording of audio streams created by other programs doesn't
work anymore.
* What led up to the situation?
Regular upgrade (apt-get upgrade) of libasound2 and libasound2-data packages
from version 1.1.6-1 to version 1.1.7-1 caused it.
* What exactly did you do (or not do) that was effective (or
ineffective)?
I downgraded the packages back to version 1.1.6-1 to revert the changes and get
a workaround.
* What was the outcome of this action?
The problem didn't occur anymore.
* What outcome did you expect instead?
Having upgrade of audacity package available that works properly together with
the new version of libasound2.
I run Debian buster variant, kernel 4.18.0-2-amd64 #1 SMP Debian 4.18.10-2
(2018-11-02) x86_64 GNU/Linux
