Would it be possible to move to a newer version of lua?
5.2 support seems to have been dropped from most (all?)
lua-* packages like lua-socket or lua-filesystem, which I'd
like to use in some scripts for mpv.

Please take this up with the developer that regressed lua support in
Debian.
