    Applicant writes:

I'm a 24-year-old programmer based in Cambridge, UK, currently working
for the open-source consultancy Collabora, where I'm the upstream maintainer
of the D-Bus Python bindings and a core developer on the Telepathy instant
messaging framework. In Debian I'm mainly interested in packaging and
maintaining the projects I'm the upstream for, as well as general
    bug-squashing - I'm an active member of pkg-telepathy, and I maintain
    dbus-python as part of pkg-utopia. I also co-maintain python-docutils.

While involved in the game mod community a couple of years before
university,
I picked up an interest in free-as-in-speech software from various open
source
Windows apps I found while looking for free-as-in-beer software. I liked the
spirit of openness and sharing that I found in free software, which
had parallels in the world of game mods (although unlike the game
modders, the free software authors understood copyright enough to use a
reasonable license!). After a brief attempt to use Mandrake Linux in around
2000, I switched from Windows to Debian as my primary OS in 2001.

3. Philosophy and Procedures
----------------------------

Simon McVittie has a good understanding of Debian's philosophy and
procedures.
He answered all my questions about the social contract, DFSG, BTS, etc. in
a good way. He committed to uphold the SC and DFSG in his Debian work and
   accepts the DMUP.

4. Tasks and Skills
-------------------

Simon McVittie has a good understanding of the technical side of Debian. He
answered all my questions without any problems. He provided patches for
serveral RC bugs which I sponsored for him. He maintains 19 packages. All his
   packages are in good shape.

5. Recommendation
-----------------

I wholeheartly recomment Simon to become a Debian Developer.

Cheers,
Michael
