-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA1 Hello everybody,
the packaging of a complex software like ROOT is a great acheivement, for which Christian desserves a lot of credit. I had the pleasure of giving him a very modest help by doing test builds on ppc64 architecture, and was very pleased by his attitude and responsivity. That he managed to leverage help from half a dozen developpers on the debian-science mailing lists to perfomr the pre-upload tests for ROOT on many architectures show his dedication and coordination skills. Since I have not dug in to the details of the Debian ROOT packages, I can not comment much on the technical side, except to say that I have never heard complains. I have looked at the BTS page of root-system, and noticed that the NMU (translation and typos only) happened three weeks after the first bug was reported, during the summer holidays, so I do not think that it is a sign of relaxed behaviour. Anyway, NMU should be a way to help each other, not to cast some blame. Furthermore, Christian is responsive on the later bugs, and forwards issues Upstream. Lastly, Lenny is on freeze, so I do not find anything wrong for not updating ROOT. All of this to say that I warmly recommend Christian for DM and NM and DD.
