Mathias is part of the Tryton upstream core team and we are maintaining together the Tryton packages for 1.5 years now. Recently, I let him prepare the 1.6 uploads completely on his own. I'm confident he has all the skills needed to maintain Debian packages on his own. Also, he's an exceptionally nice person to work with, and I've had the privilege to meet him in person a few months ago. For the Tryton packaging in particular, it would make my live much easier if he could directly upload. Therefore, but not just because of that, I hereby wholeheartedly support his application to become a Debian maintainer, and in some time a full Debian Developer.
