I'm writing in support of Rodolfo Garcia Penas for Debian Maintainer status. I've been working with Rodolfo as he has significantly contributed to upstream wmaker projects and adopted several orphaned and RC buggy Debian packages. Over the past few months, we have made close to a dozen uploads to Debian together (everything from bug fixing, to adopting, to completely reworking bit-rotting packaging, to new upstream versions, to cherry picking upstream bug fixes). He has carefully gone through bug reports and submitted numerous patches upstream which he eventually merged into Debian. His work is too numerous to describe in this email, but a picture is worth 1000 words [1]. His contributions are well received upstream and has been given VCS access to wmaker and various upstream projects related to wmaker. He has learned a lot about Debian packaging and is quite technically proficient. As DM, I expect that he will continue to learn the Debian process of package management since he has actively sought advice on how to request package removals and deal with bugs affecting his packages. He is respectful and actively pursues perfection following Debian policy and procedures. He is good to work with. In summary, he has greatly improved the status of wmaker ecosystem in Debian, and has pushed his work upstream. He is a good candidate for DM, and with time and more experience, a good candidate for DD.
