-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: SHA256 Hello,
I recommend to accept Ondřej Čertík as a new Debian Developer, uploading. 1. Identification & Account Data - -------------------------------- First name: Ondřej Middle name: - Last name: Čertík Key fingerprint: 1B47 0A1C 043A B115 A996 38E0 4868 2904 DEE2 7C7D Account: certik 2. Background - ------------- I came to Linux in 2001, when I realized that Linux is much more user friendly for development. A friend of mine has recommended me to start with Debian, so I did and it was the right choice. I started with stable, but soon needed newer programs, so I switched to testing, but it still annoyed me that some fixes take weeks to propagate from unstable, so I switched to unstable and I use it I think since 2003. I think I understand how Debian works internally quite well, even though I didn't get involved in the project, I was just fixing things for myself (reported a few bugs occasionally). But then I wanted to get my own program into Debian (beginning of 2007), so I learned how to do packages and realized it's very easy, so I started to fix packages that I use and that didn't work. This also allowed me to get to know quite a few Debian Developers and I realized the most effective way of working is to report everything that doesn't work for me, and try to fix things that I use the most frequently. I am interested in mathematics and physics programs, so I created the packages sympy, openmx, abinit, libmesh, slepc, petsc4py and cython, and helped to fix python-scipy, python-numpy, petsc and others. And that's what I want to make sure, that the user will just do: "apt-get install petsc4py" and it will install openmx (MPI implementation), petsc, petsc4py and it is all going to just work. As far as I know, Debian is the only distribution, where such libraries work out of the box. I am handling most of these as part of the Debian Scientific Computing Team. Another area of interest is python - I use python for all my stuff, so I am a member of the Debian Python Modules Team and Python Applications Packaging Team. And I am interested in sponsoring other people, who contribute python modules or applications and also working with other DDs on this. The reason why I want to contribute is that it doesn't take that much time to do all this work and it makes a big difference as Debian and all the derived distributions get the working packages for free. - -- Bernd Zeimetz Debian GNU/Linux Developer http://bzed.de http://www.debian.org GPG Fingerprint: ECA1 E3F2 8E11 2432 D485 DD95 EB36 171A 6FF9 435F -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: GnuPG v1.4.14 (GNU/Linux) Comment: Using GnuPG with Icedove - http://www.enigmail.net/ iQIcBAEBCAAGBQJSzYztAAoJEOs2Fxpv+UNfBfMP/RxaZLAqlRsxGj7JANbUSNN1 IhJ1fjN9u26SOhiQ2HAYQ3lUogRvAoCF9olkCswkINlRHJwuRtf5Pite8JewMhxE 9nwW0slFuUGq6dRGN9j9Q1LA3egPPkj0eqGXY+yfNpKdT5aXLBHxM3l3XxSMNJ3s B/NEIH1CvtabtLOKK70RDo4cyCD298YMkvObY73/GgDtagD0sa0XfX2TL3Hp68YQ T7I5FZFs/VpjNL05ZgN7eZYfCpwLSz+QtO8SOKtLwpAeg+4viYUqlb2K6NSE3Y3z 1HT6OBztyH0aI9x6oLjzNvRSTZ/ZB0v/sox+f1zlPHmDi2dIK7I4lBEQXcqIhNxt TKclqE1x76h/5qMGa4Q6/AkmRAVzdF8KfVzQDPxJwN04bFiJwtguS3L9jBEiHxbu LdP5Uy4WDGM2HNL/6uBvm2YtK6PrVoWR5OQF8Pjo2feSK34PS4B5JyO57iFsmRy8 HaPj5XvLwu5gUuyy4ojCL0KL3IuDXZnrEOvZCnowqx3jFNEXGMt81FOiIBO6E239 JFl/N3oKakHlX6fnifa2SLy4K2z/p4e8oLnEgo80imE6ORXY/cKgWkqPbIXdg/a3 +eP7bd0hlWvA921E95GmMogaNBK9W9DGwtRAUxWJbSYZnYMP+hj9SaTqbe+lfzoD 1k8knTmbV52jDMO3FsGO =lKaa -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [email protected] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
