* Applicant background Hi there. I would like to present myself as a candidate to become a Debian Developer. I can't remember exactly when I started using Debian, but it was probably around the Slink/Hamm timeframe and actually before apt was introduced. I distinctly remember at the time being frustrated with a certain installation program called dselect. Fast-forwarding to 2016, I've been packaging software for Debian for a year now, and my general goal is to make Debian an awesome host OS for cloud and container applications. I believe Debian is losing users and developers to other operating systems which have better support for cloud and container technologies and I would like to help reverse this trend. I've spent most of my career as a developer working with Linux and free software, and would like to start contributing to Debian as a way of trying to repay in some small way the benefits I have received from Debian and the free software community.
