After investigation, this seems to be a bug in make, which not finding a .depend in $PWD, searches for it in : PREFIX/include, /usr/gnu/include, /usr/local/include or /usr/include Could you investigate the buildd to see if there is a .depend in one of those directories, and where it does come from ?
