I reopened this bug report with an RC severity when I saw that it could make the postinst script fail. This has subsequently been reported in #401273 and #402093 which are merged with this one. However, this bug is not really easy to fix and anyway I think it does not need to be fixed before etch since the version in etch (2.8.1-2) does not contain this bug. Should I tag it etch-ignore?
