The log file can be found in /var/lib/mldonkey/mlnet.log
This is fixed in 3.0.0-2 and the log file can be found in
/var/log/mldonkey/mlnet.log
It's very simple to fix: edit the init script at line 101 and change it
in order to look like:
start-stop-daemon --start $WRAPPER_OPTIONS \
--pidfile $PIDFILE --background --exec $EXEC \
-- -log_file $LOGFILE -pid $PIDDIR
