Does it really matter that /usr/lib/`dpkg-architecture -qDEB_HOST_MULTIARCH` is used? Wouldn't using something like `pkg-config --variable=libdir x11` be better? The versioned dependency on dpkg is not good for backports...
And BTW please disregard my previous mail about pkg-config not working... I wasn't using the proper syntax in ./configure arguments...
