Ben went through a series of big changes where we made most of the global references go away. That allowed us to ease its parallelisation. As a result, your patches need more work to be integratable. The second patch can be applied as is though. I'll have to think about how make this into Ben. Is reading a .ben
file from stdin could be a solution for you?
