I ran into a font problem with openoffice.org 1.0. Long dashes, quotationmarks etc. are displayed as '?', except when using "times" or "charter". When printing, it's fine.
I'm using a yesterday dist-upgraded sid, openoffice 1.0-debs, the ttf-openoffice-package under kde. I don't think this is a specific debian issue - I remember a friend having the same problem under Mandrake.
