You can get past this.  As the user you wish to run openoffice as, do the
following:

rm ~/.sversionrc ; rm -r ~/.openoffice ; openoffice

(ignore the errors about copying to ~/.kde2)

Sorry, the .kde stuff and startup is still a mess - it will get fixed but
for now keep an eye on /usr/share/docs/openoffice.org/TODO.Debian for known
problems.
