Package: openoffice.org Version: 1.0.1-7 Severity: wishlist
Currently the openoffice builds with g++-3.2 (the part that I've seen). Now that sid has g++-3.2 as the default g++ compiler, Could it be updated to use g++ directly instead of g++-3.2? The reasons are: - If a g++-3.3 you could get benefit of it without having to change anything (and we won't have to have installed both of them). - apt-build platform optimization (for example, it generates code as gentoo distribution does, for the specific machine making it run really faster) uses g++ and gcc and the packages that do not use them could not get optimized for the machine (without -march=pentium3, for example). (I'm working in the improvement of apt to let the people that likes to compile their system own optimized system stay in debian and not have to switch to gentoo, but it is only posible if people use gcc and g++ compiler as much as posible).
