This exhausts my list of known problems in this area; it is normally very reliable if the dictionary is installed and dictionary.lst is correctly generated. Therefore I would suspect a problem local to your machine - maybe some missing files or permissions. Please try the following: 1. Create a new user account, log in and start OOo, and check if the tick marks are available in the new setup. 2. Purge openoffice.org, openoffice.org-bin and openoffice.org-debian-files and reinstall, then try again from the new user account. Chris
