Package: libreoffice-impress
Version: 4:25.2.3-2+deb13u3
Severity: normal

Dear Maintainer,
I was looking to present an Impress document/slide deck in a few days
and was trying out the Impress Remote for the first time in a very long
time. I attempted to use the upstream documentation for configuration:
https://wiki.documentfoundation.org/Documentation/HowTo/Impress_Remote_(Android)
After following these directions and completely closing and restarting
Libreoffice, attempts to use the Wifi connection would simply fail.
Bluetooth connections are working fine, but a Wifi connection attempt
immediately provides an
error.
Wondering if this was a build-time option which was disabled by the
Debian packaging team, I went to LibreOffice's website and downloaded
the latest version as an AppImage. It was able to open my existing
presentation and immediately allow connections from the Remote
application on my phone. After validating that the Remote application
worked with at least one modern version of Impress, I then configured
and downloaded LibreOffice from Trixie-Backports. I have updated to
26.2.0.1~bpo13+1, and it was able to connect with the same ease as the
AppImage.
I don't know whether the stable package has an actual bug or an explicit
decision was made to not enable the Wifi option for Impress Remote
Control, but the later versions are corrected.

I think I saw upstream bugs wrt that floating by.. Don't find an explicit one
right now, though.
Closing with an appropriate version, the BTS will know it still affected
stable. But since it's normal it doesn't match stable update criteria anyway.
The backport works, so one can use that one.

Rene
