GSOC 2016 : Week 1 23/05/2016 - 29/05/2016

23rd: Day 1

   -

Got a new hard disk and made a secondary backup before changing from
   Ubuntu to Jessie.
   -

Tried to fix the error at the end of task 1 by finding a Jessie
back-port source and checking Ubuntu sources but no avail, can't find a
   similar package.

24th: Day 2

   -

Downloaded Jessie iso and made a live USB.
   -

Installed Jessie, software install failed had to re-do it.

25th: Day 3

   -

Fixed dual boot grub and a few basic package installations
   -

Worked on task 1 again. Rebooted system after failed software update
(unexpected power outage for a few minutes during update) to find the
   dreaded blue screen. :(.
   - Tried debugging the problem on command line from suggestions in Debian
forum. Likely cause : failed update of gnome3 or nvdia drives. Can't seem
to find a problem with either. Going to reinstall, again

26th: Day 4

   -

Serious problem with Debian installation. Think the iso file is
   corrupted.
   -

After installation, trying to install firefox and a few multimedia
plugins is going very badly, twice
      -

Dealing with the ‘Light blue screen of doom’, nothing helps
      -

Kernel IP routing table has been wiped! (How? No idea.. )
      -

Fedora still working, no problem, so tried to free the space by Debian
for reinstallation, but nope, tmp will get corrupted.

27th: Day 5

   -

Tried installation again with another mirror. Nope, still no Gnome login
   screen.
   -

Booted a backup fedora and downloaded the Debian image all over again
and made the usb live again.
   -

Installation with new image. YES! SUCCESS!

28th: Day 6

   -

Add extra (non free, contrib, testing sources)
   -

   Update & Upgrade software
   -

Install all the applications, and required packages like LAMP server,
   etc..
   -

   Dual Boot with Fedora
