The dynamic linker on these architectures requires all objects to be compiled with -fPIC (including those extracted from ar libraries). This doesn't preclude you from linking with libmilter.a, merely that it must be built with -fPIC. >Am I assuming correctly that the linking stage would work fine if >there was a libmilter.so?
