The perl-5.004 package Recommends: perl-5.004-doc; the perl-5.005 package Recommends: perl-5.005-doc. Dselect in all its evilness will automatically select Recommended packages. Thus if perl-5.005 and perl-5.004 are installed it selects both doc packages, and notices they conflict, and tries to install one perl or the other. Perhaps perl-5.004-doc should be downgraded to a Suggest:?
