umm, there doesn't need to be font "policy" -- X deals with X fonts,
nothing else does, that's all there is to it, right?

As for xfs not recognizing fonts in xfnt100 -- if you've spent enough
time with the documentation to figure out that it's really not your
fault, presumably you should file a bug report...

(as for the netscape bit: netscape doesn't know anything "special"
about fonts.  If xlsfonts doesn't list them they're not there, at
least according to whatever the server is using.)

debian-user, or *maybe* debian-devel, might be a better place for this
(or an X newsgroup...)
