I don't know if this has been considered yet: It is pretty easy to close the wrong bug by mistake. Reporting such a mistake was in fact my first interaction with a Debian developer. Should the installer check, before closing a bug, if that bug was reported to the source package (or one of its binary packages) that closes it? Such a check will cause a bit of work for the maintainer when a package changes names, but this will be pretty rare. Richard Braakman
