I'm not sure of a good way. There are other bug reports because of the dependencies within X11. Perhaps something like an "xfs-client" dummy package that provides serveral xfnt values? The problem is the need to go around the system a bit - after all, you don't really *know* what fonts xfs will make available at packaging time...
