This is already reported as a bug (Bug #10044: smartlist does not follow FHS yet). However, there is no procedure in dpkg to make it to compare md5sums from /var/list/.etc in an old package with the md5sums of a new package having the conffiles in /etc/smartlist. This means that making a smartlist package which is *both* FHS compliant and compatible with the previous release is going to be a little bit "tricky", because just copying configuration files in the preinst would be sub-optimal. -----BEGIN PGP SIGNATURE----- Version: 2.6.3ia Charset: latin1 iQCVAgUBNXJnHiqK7IlOjMLFAQGdGwP/Rc4lPfudftLUs/WockvwR/Rrc3pPY437 LzY6o4HnOzsTPZt02gEPZ3st32WnbIqaisdWOU9bTauIpvbLepYi+ymLR0XXIcOK rjQyTKLFBfCjGG37XVNQc4Ntpvg50LEjNhLjF6uUK4fAbgnpv+O7FJYmDUbggL3M tXCdldz3nVc= =cQG3 -----END PGP SIGNATURE----- -- To UNSUBSCRIBE, email to [EMAIL PROTECTED] with a subject of "unsubscribe".
