Agree with your general points, and second. One comment, though (and I know this is not what you want, but it's a small change :-)).

I'd expect to find them under "Viewers", but it's not a image viewer (IMO). I don't really think of them as text tools. I suggest we change the description of the "Viewers" entry to something like "non-text file viewers" or just "file display programs" (although that would lead to things like "less" being placed there...which I'm not sure is incorrect).
