Sure. We're talking about the *default* for x-window-manager. This is something that should work in as many situations as possible. People who want to use a specific window manager generally shouldn't depend on the priority system anyways; they should change the x-window-manger alternative, or just change it in ~/.xsession if they're not the sysadmin.
