Well I think that's great and if you read what I said, I had always agreed that in the instance of this package, there doesn't seem to be any serious porting barriers in the code (just the build system, it seemed), and thus it ought to be ported, even forked as necessary. Although I will add on this point Ron that it is also part of your duty here, IMHO, to submit the build portability and other useful patches upstream.
