Pristine sources are already a desired, but not required, characteristic. There are enough brain dead upstream packaging practices that we can not mandate pristine sources. > If that is not possible or doesn't make sense for some reason, the > way to go from there to here should be documented either textually > or, preferably, achieved by running debian/package_upstream (or > whatever). This would be an undue burden on a number of packages. Have you done a survey to see how many packages would be affected? What purpose would be served by this target that is not already served by recording the upstream source location in the copyright file? If we do not ship pristine sources, it is unlikely that we would be able to generate a cryptographically pristine set by this mechanism anyway. manoj -- A programmer is a person who passes as an exacting expert on the basis of being able to turn out, after innumerable punching, an infinite series of incomprehensible answers calculated with micrometric precisions from vague assumptions based on debatable figures taken from inconclusive documents and carried out on instruments of problematical accuracy by persons of dubious reliability and questionable mentality for the avowed purpose of annoying and confounding a hopelessly defenseless department that was unfortunate enough to ask for the information in the first place.
