[...] Marcellus, ~ Hello and welcome. If you would like, you can use the gcjwebplugin; that is about your only option for applets. Once the Blackdown folks get the plugin working for their 1.3.1 JRE/JDK, you should be able to use that. ~ Applets are a very small part of Java(TM) development. Most of us who do Java development on Debian PowerPC are focused on the server apps and libraries, with desktop coming next in priority. As a co-maintainer for Debian's java-package[0] utility, I would encourage you to use it for packaging your JRE/JDKs on PowerPC. IBM has a 1.3 and 1.4 JRE/JDK, and Blackdown has their 1.3.1 JRE/JDK. You should be able to do J2EE, Swing, and SWT-based development without issue. ~ Of course, ultimately, we would like you to try the free runtimes for Java(TM) and file bug reports against those to help up us improve the free alternatives to the Java(TM) Trap[1].
