Well... normally, the very first thing that happens when doing suspend to disk is that it switches to console. If that doesn't happen, I really don't know what's going on. Note that I've been reworking significantly the whole suspend/resume process for pmac, merging parts of disk and ram, improving disk at the same time, etc... It's still very experimental, but I hope to have a patch available to apply on top of 2.6.12 when it gets released.
