I was able to install Linuxppc with kernel 2.1.103 on a SMP 43P with no problems, but I was using a serial console (IBM 3151) and not trying to play with any of the video/keyboard support. I think that the video is a standard IBM S3 onboard, but don't hold me to that. The system had both IDE/SCSI and both worked like champs. You will need to tune a few Boot Console parameters in order to bypass some of the IBM internal checking, but that's more for a speed increase on booting (good ol' IBM error checking) than for a Linux test. If you have any specific problems, ask me. I have a great deal of experience w/ Linux running on many different rs6000 platforms. Ryan % %%%%%%%%%% %% S.
