I'm using the base2_2.tgz base system configured from scratch on my Motorola PReP box. I decided to use dselect/apt to add some packages onto the base system and here is what I got when apt went to update the package lists: ------- Get http://http.us.debian.org unstable/contrib Packages Get http://non-us.debian.org unstable/non-US Packages 0% [Packages `Connecting to http.us.debian.org' 0] [Packages `Connecting to non 0% [Packages `Connecting to http.us.debian.org (208.146.80.105)' 0] [Packages ` Get http://http.us.debian.org unstable/main Packages Get http://http.us.debian.org unstable/non-free Packages Fetched 528k in 2m6s (4190b/s) Updating package file cache...done Updating package status cache.../usr/lib/dpkg//methods/apt/update: line 3: 102 Segmentation fault apt-get update
update available list script returned error exit status 139. Press RETURN to continue. ------ Then I tried the following after exiting dselect: ------- two32:~# apt-get update Get http://http.us.debian.org unstable/contrib Packages Get http://non-us.debian.org unstable/non-US Packages 0% [Packages `Connecting to http.us.debian.org' 0] [Packages `Connecting to non Error http://http.us.debian.org unstable/contrib Packages 404 Not Found Get http://http.us.debian.org unstable/main Packages Error http://http.us.debian.org unstable/main Packages 404 Not Found Get http://http.us.debian.org unstable/non-free Packages Error http://http.us.debian.org unstable/non-free Packages 404 Not Found Fetched 11.0k in 15s (699b/s) ERROR http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/unstable/contrib/binary-powerpc/Packages.gz 404 Not Found ERROR http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/unstable/main/binary-powerpc/Packages.gz 404 Not Found ERROR http://http.us.debian.org/debian/dists/unstable/non-free/binary-powerpc/Packages.gz 404 Not Found ------- Tried apt-get update again and it worked. Any ideas about the initial segfault? Maybe I have/had something misconfigured? It seems to work now. -- Matt Porter [EMAIL PROTECTED] This is Linux Country. On a quiet night, you can hear Windows reboot.
